THANK YOU FOR VISITING OUR WEBSITE.
THERE IS STILL TIME TO ORDER A HORSE. MAKE YOUR OWN, BOOK A CARVING COURSE AND START YOUR ROCKING HORSE JOURNEY TODAY.
Yes you can! We sell everything you might need to help you. Look for the ‘Mallet Guide’ on our plans. 1 Mallet means the plan is a beginners project, easy joints and no or very little carving. A good weekend project. If you are looking for more of a challenge, work your way up the scale.
We make all of our stands using American Ash. If you are feeling creative this is a good opportunity to work with some different materials you may have around your workshop. For our laminated horses, we use BB Grade Birch Plywood, this timber has the fewest faults when you start to carve away the layers. For our hardwood horses we always use tulipwood, which is an America poplar, it has very few faults, carves nicely and works wonderfully whether you are painting the horse or gessoing.
Our team are always more than happy to help you when they can. Please be patient with them, they are very busy and will get back to you as quickly as they can. Please email us and we will more than happily get them to ring you.
Unfortunately no. All of our accessories are made to fit our horses. If you want replacement leather or metal work this will need to be made to measure.
There is lots of help and support throughout your Rocking Horse project. If you haven’t got them, our books and DVDs have great advice and tips in. Also check out our YouTube Channel and social media accounts for extra inspirations and advice. You are always welcome to phone or message us and one of our team are always happy to help.
Yes, a super set will fit a laminated style horse, You will need to carve off the saddle block but once this has been done the super kit will fit your horse. You do need to tell us it is a Rocky you are making as the swing irons are slightly different
We use acrylic paint to paint our horses, this is a water based paint and therefore complies with toy safety regulations. We do sell a paint pack which includes everything you need to paint your horse including instructions.
To find the size of your horse we need to know the length of it's body, straight along the side from shoulder to rump. If it is 18" or less then it is a small, 19" - 24" it is a medium, 25" - 29" it is a large anymore than 30" it is an extra large.
Instructions on how to fit the hair are available in our painting and saddlery booklet. If you would like to watch someone tacking up a horse, we recommend viewing on online streaming of DVD2 which shows each step of tacking up your horse.
We generally use an expanding PU glue for all our work, quick grab and super strong. Although any good quality wood working glue will do the job
