It is actually made up of strips of double edge saw blade material, welded and pinned to form a rigid blade 25mm wide by 230mm long, coarse on one side and fine on the other. Unusually for a Japanese tool it cuts on the push stroke. Now with new soft grip handle.

I bought this tool at the Harrogate Woodworking Exhibition and I have used it a week after for the first time on both the Carousel Horse and the plywood laminated horse all I can say is I wished I'd of bought one years ago BRILLIANT pity they don't do a radius one.
